2003 Hulk Hands Toy

Do You Remember?

Do you remember the Incredible Hulk Hands from 2003? Those giant green foam fists with the plastic bar inside so you could swing them like the Hulk himself? They were released to promote the 2003 film Hulk, and to this day they’re one of the toys I look back on with the most nostalgia.

Getting The Hulk Hands Back in 2003

I remember Hulk Hands being the toy in 2003. They weren’t impossible to find, but when stores got them, they disappeared fast. Luckily, I had the best hookup a kid could ask for: a cousin who worked at KB Toys. She eventually got my older brother a job there too, which basically made KB Toys feel like our personal warehouse.

One day we were dropping off food for my cousin, and she took us into the magical back room — the place where all the toys lived before they hit the shelves. That’s where I saw them: the Hulk Hands. A pair was already out of the package for some reason. Maybe the employees were playing with them. Honestly, I wouldn’t blame them.

While my mom and cousin talked, I was in my own world, smashing imaginary enemies and living my best Hulk life. I must have looked like I was having the time of my life, because we ended up buying the exact pair I was playing with.

The Memories of “Being” the Hulk

Once we got home, I practically refused to take those things off. I wore them for weeks, smashing everything in sight. I didn’t even know who the Hulk really was — I hadn’t read a comic or seen the movie — but that didn’t stop me from becoming a one‑kid demolition crew. I was a menace. Honestly, just like the Hulk movies, the government probably should’ve tried to step in.

Of course, karma came for me. My younger cousin eventually got his hands on the Hulk Hands, and he was way more destructive than I ever was. If I saw him coming, I knew I was about to take a big green fist straight to the head. It felt like a horror movie where I had to sneak around to avoid him.

Eventually, the Hulk Hands started falling apart from all the chaos they endured. From the moment I first tried them on in the back of KB Toys to the moment my cousin used them to terrorize me, those things were constantly in action. They definitely earned their price tag.

The Nostalgia

Even though the ending of the Hulk Hands era involved me getting repeatedly punched by a toddler-sized Hulk, I still look back on those memories with so much fondness. Trying them on in the back room of KB Toys, destroying everything in my path, and then getting destroyed by the same toy — it all feels like such a magical slice of childhood in hindsight.

I was lucky enough have a lot of toys growing up, but those Hulk Hands stand out more than most. Twenty years later, they still make me smile.
